Sometimes these things just don't work out. Sometimes a player just doesn't suit England - Andriy Shevchenko springs to mind. Doesn't make them shit.

Re: Zaza
Well threesixty, talent of any kind isn't always a given constant. Song used to be a good player and so did Benni MCcarthy. And that exSpurs Egyptian striker we signed - Mido wasn't it?

Nigel Reo-coker at 32 has been without a club since since January and Adebayor is only 32. How about that Moroccan striker we tried to sign years ago from Bordeaux but he turned us down and eventually went to Arsenal before drifting out of the limelight to Stoke and Palace wasn't it?...

Re: Zaza
I'm just having a hard time believing he's actually shit.
It just doesn't make sense. I'm baffled by it.
You cannot play for Juventus and Italy and be shit. It's not possible.

So I have to trust my brain rather than my eyes and believe that it's our overall form or the formation we play. I just cant believe he's that bad. It's too painful to contemplate.

Re: Zaza
Palace game was a vast improvement for him but on the evidence so far, he will be going back. For £25m I'd expect a player that could at least look like scoring once in a while and I don't think he has. I'm personally glad we took him on approval and didn't just blow £25m on him because I don't think he will make it.

I'd be happier with a better striker frankly. Hopefully, we'll also shift Sakho to WBA for £16m and buy genuine quality next time...

Re: Zaza
As mentioned this whole 15 games before we have to buy thing is a real barrier.

He's a player who is new to the league and has never played outside of Italy before. He's joined a team that is going through a massive transition and have been playing poorly and with low confidence until the weekend. He's only played half a dozen games and under normal circumstances you'd give him half a season before writing him off but because of this supposed clause we aren't in a position do that.

we don't need strikers that just work hard, we need strikers that work hard and score goals and this lad doesn't im afraid

Re: Zaza
How many times have we recruited a player and particularly a Striker who has started out a bit shit and not got any better, then suddenly they have come good? Is it me or has it not really happened????

Zaza may have been a decent player but the past 12 months and even at Juve he has hardly been banging them in, he’s still young but clearly not the player he was in his early 20,s when he did seem to know were the goal was and had a good couple of seasons, hence the Italy call up

Happy to eat humble pie if he does though!!

...he needs a scrappy goal and then watch him''

Why do so many people use that line? It's cliched, lazy and without substance. Equally, he could just as easily score one and then not score again for 6 games..

It's cliched because it's true. But in sure you know that.''

Erh, no, I don't know that at all, thanks all the same. So every striker that can't score for shit scores one and then never looks back? Are you even being serious? I'll stick my neck out and say even if he scores one it won't ultimately make fuck all difference, but you carry on living in cloud cuckoo land.

I like that, Alfs.

A lot.

Re: Zaza
What summed it up for me was when Lanzini did a great little move just outside their box, done a load of work then laid it off for Zaza who completely failed to control such an easy ball and off palace fucked!
He realises that you can be shit with us as long as you run about like a loon, bit like Jonny Pantsil!

To be fair to him he did that against Middlesborough.

Re: Zaza
I would get rid,he's never been a prolific goal scorer which is what we need.

Why did it take him so long to play like that yesterday, when you are not scoring you should be closing down the defenders running the channels and making a nuisance of yourself.

Re: Zaza
A couple of goals and some love from the stands and he may well get back to the kind of player that top itallian managers rate.

Can overestimate what a knock to his mojo that penalty miss in France must have been.

I hope it happens very soon, as that is a nasty deal with where x amounts of games = serious wonga.

He is now watching Charlie Austin to get tips on how to score with no knee ligaments.

As he actually had a clear cut chance created for him? Most of the times I have seen him he has been very isolated.

Re: Zaza
The clause kicks in after 14 games according to Hugh Southon. So that's 7 more appearances before a decision has to be made. Needs to start scoring and quick!

Crassus 1:24 Sun Oct 16
Re: Zaza
It is a fact because it instills confidence, surely everyone who has watched the game can see the difference that affords in perfomance of players of all abilities?

Now Zaza is clearly not tuned into the speed and intensity here, possibly never will be in front of goal but one thing is for sure, if he does get a goal we are likely to see the true player sooner, whatever that is and we have not seen it yet.

Deserves another game after that performance and possibly a minor wager that he will get it against Sunderland
